Fëanorian Week Day 2: Maglor

"And it is told of Maglor that he could not endure the pain with which the Silmaril tormented him;
and he cast it at last into the Sea, and thereafter he wandered ever upon the shores,
singing in pain and regret beside the waves."
- J.R.R. Tolkien, 'The Silmarillion'

I barely finished this in time, and it's kind of rushed, but I had to do it, because I have to cry about Maglor a little bit before the day is done.

(I've never drawn such a detailed background before, or a piece with so many light/shadow elements. I think it turned out quite well!)

I agree about the light and the shadows.
He's also putting a lot into that song.

Yay! It was especially fun to try out the sun glinting off the water, and the blues and yellows used for the shadows and the highlights (I was genuinely nervous about using blue-tinged hues on his face shadows and yellow-tinged highlights on the water!)

Indeed he is - it's sad to think about, but by that point I think his song, his memory, and his voice were all he had left, to give and to keep :(
